Only love can do that.
"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only love can do that."- Martin Luther King, Jr.

I've been thinking along those lines. I would rejoice if the war was over and all fighting was done. I would rejoice if he had repented and changed his ways. That would be cause for jubilation. But death...well it didn't undo the darkness. I'm still sad.
Not that I think we should have done nothing. There should be consequences for his actions, but it's similar to when my child disobeys and has left me no choice but to spank. I am sad. I don't rejoice in the consequence. I rejoice in obedience. When it gets to that point the mood is only somber.
I've been feeling so taken aback by the excitedness over his death. Yes, it is great that he is no longer able to do more harm. But yesterday, I asked someone "How are you" and he replied with "Great! Osama is dead!"
Justice is great, it was the right thing to do. Yes, praise the Navy Seals and the Administration for their work. But celebrating the death of a human being? That I cannot do.
